About Southern Song Stone Sculpture Park, Dongqian Lake
A park on the south-eastern shore of Dongqian Lake built around the tomb path of Shi Jian, a posthumously ennobled member of the Shi clan that gave the Southern Song several chancellors, whose avenue of paired stone officials, generals, horses, tigers and sheep between memorial gateways is described as the best-preserved Southern Song tomb path in China. More than 200 stone figures, mostly Southern Song but some from the Ming and Qing, have been gathered here from sites around the lake, with an indoor museum on the carvings and their history. Other Shi family tomb paths still stand in place in the hills around the lake.
