About Taishi Que Gates
Twin stone gate pillars built in AD 118 at the head of the sacred way to the Han shrine of Taishi Mountain, standing about 500 m south of Zhongyue Temple and regarded as its symbolic gateway. Each just under 4 m high and capped with a carved stone roof, they are decorated in shallow relief with chariot processions, acrobats, the animals of the four directions and an elephant-like creature. They form one of the three Han 'que' of Mount Song in the Historic Monuments of Dengfeng World Heritage site.
