About Mount Langya
A range of wooded hills on the south-western edge of Chuzhou, rising to 321 m, made famous by the Song writer Ouyang Xiu, who governed Chuzhou in the 1040s and wrote 'The Old Toper's Pavilion' about the Zuiweng Pavilion in its valley (the present pavilion is Qing). Up the valley is Langya Temple, founded in the 760s, whose Beamless Hall, a Ming brick-vaulted hall with no timber beams, is national heritage, as are more than 400 cliff and stele inscriptions, seven of them Tang, around the temple and the Zuiweng and Fengle pavilions. Lake Shenxiu, the Huifeng Pavilion and old paths make it a half-day walk.
How to get to Mount Langya
