About Tai Kwun (Former Central Police Station Compound)
Tai Kwun is the everyday name for the former Central Police Station Compound on Hollywood Road, a group of historic buildings that also takes in the former Central Magistracy and Victoria Prison. Its dominant structures are the Barrack Block of 1864 and the Police Headquarters Block of 1919, and after restoration the compound opened to the public in 2018 as a centre for heritage and arts. Visitors can walk the courtyards, see the permanent heritage exhibitions in the former prison halls, join guided tours and visit the contemporary art galleries.
