About St. John's Cathedral
Built in 1849, St John's Cathedral is the mother church of the Anglican Diocese of Hong Kong Island and the oldest surviving Western Christian church building in Hong Kong. It is a grey-brick and stone building in Gothic style, with a crenellated tower that recalls its role as a garrison church. An extension in 1873 gave it its cross shape.
