About Bosten Lake

Bosten is Xinjiang's largest lake, a freshwater lake of more than 1,000 km² lying at about 1,048 m in the Yanqi Basin on the south side of the Tian Shan. It is fed mainly by the Kaidu River and drained by the Kongque (Peacock) River, and its wetlands make it one of China's main reed-growing areas and Xinjiang's largest fishery. The 5A scenic area has two sections, Dahekou at the mouth of the Kaidu River and Lianhai World.

How to get to Bosten Lake

The Dahekou section is about 25 km by road south-east of Yanqi and about 80 km (roughly an hour) north-east of Korla.
