The historic station at the heart of the protected Nankou–Badaling section of the Beijing–Zhangjiakou (Jingzhang) railway, the first major line designed and built by Chinese engineers (1905–1909), under Zhan Tianyou. Here a zigzag switchback lets trains climb the steep Guangou valley; the 1908 station building keeps its original style, with a statue of Zhan Tianyou and his tomb beside it, and suburban Line S2 trains still reverse on the switchback.

Just below the Badaling Great Wall, about 1 km to its south-east, in Badaling town, Yanqing District, about 60 km north-west of central Beijing; Line S2 suburban trains run over the old line from Nankou through the Guangou valley.
