About Qianshan National Park

A mountain scenic area of about 44 sq km, among the first national scenic areas named in 1982, with granite peaks, old pines and valleys where Buddhist and Daoist temples stand side by side. The listed old buildings are the 'five great Chan monasteries' (Longquan, Xiangyan, Da'an, Zuyue and Zhonghui) and the Daoist Wuliang Temple, mostly Ming and Qing in date. Stone steps climb to viewpoints such as Xianren Tai (708.5 m, the highest point visitors can reach), and Maitreya Peak, a natural outcrop shaped like a seated Buddha, is known as the Great Buddha of Qianshan.
