About Tiemenguan
Tiemenguan, the city of the 2nd Division of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps (Bingtuan), was founded in 2012 from regiments on the farmland around Korla. It takes its name from the Iron Gate Pass, a gorge north of Korla counted among China's 26 famous ancient passes. Since 2020 it has also run Bingtuan towns scattered across Bayingolin, from Hejing and Yanqi to Ruoqiang and Qiemo, among them Milan near the ruins of Miran.
