About Ankang

Ankang follows the Han River through steep green country between the Qinling and Daba mountains, where Shaanxi meets Hubei, Chongqing and Sichuan. Its sights are quiet ones: Yinghu Lake, the reservoir behind the Ankang Dam; Shuhe Ancient Town, an old river port with Qing guild halls built by merchants from Hubei and by the boatmen's guild; and the Fengyan Ancient Terraces, rice fields begun by Qing migrants from Hunan. Ziyang County is known for its selenium-rich tea.
