Changde 常德Chángdé
Tao Yuanming's Peach Blossom Spring and a walled town 6,000 years old

About Changde
Changde lies on the Yuan River at the western edge of Dongting Lake, and its three-kilometre flood wall along the river is carved with poems and calligraphy. In Taoyuan County, the Taohuayuan scenic area takes its name from Tao Yuanming's fable The Peach Blossom Spring, about a hidden valley cut off from the world. On the plain of Li County, Chengtoushan was ringed by a rammed-earth wall and moat around 4000 BC, beside some of the earliest dated rice paddies in the world.
