Wuzhishan 五指山Wǔzhǐshān
Highland city of the Li, named for Hainan's highest mountain

About Wuzhishan
Wuzhishan, called Tongshi until 2001, is a county-level city governed directly by the province, in the mountainous middle of Hainan, where most people are Li. It is named after Wuzhi Mountain, the Five Finger Mountain and the island's highest, which rises beside it. At Nansheng, Wuzhishan Red Canyon is a rainforest gorge with a rafting run and boardwalk, and the city's hills produce Wuzhishan big-leaf black tea.
