About Chengmai
Chengmai, a county governed directly by the province, lies west of Haikou. Also here are the Twin Pagodas of Meilang, two volcanic-stone towers of the Song or Yuan dynasty, each in its own pond, and Shique village, whose Feng clan halls and 230-odd volcanic-stone houses are tied to Lady Xian, a sixth-century leader.
