About Yulin

Yulin, in the hills of south-eastern Guangxi, is an industrial and trading city, home of the Yuchai engine works and a herbal-medicine trade, and many overseas Chinese trace their roots here. Its finest monument is the Zhenwu Pavilion in Rong County, a three-storey timber tower of 1573 built from nearly 3,000 pieces without nails, whose four inner columns hang just clear of the floor. The Taoist grottoes of Goulou Cave and Duqiao Mountain and the hillside garden of Xielu Villa round out a visit.
