About Zhuxian Mosque

A mosque founded in the Ming and rebuilt in 1738, a reminder that Zhuxian's Ming and Qing trade drew Hui merchants who built several mosques in the town. Its east-facing gate stands on stone columns carved with landscapes and couplets beneath dense wood carving of dragons, phoenixes, lions and leaping carp, and the prayer hall is formed by two linked buildings under green glazed tiles. Two stele pavilions keep Qing inscriptions, one of them in Arabic dated 1805.
