About Gao Temple, Zhongwei

A temple complex in central Zhongwei that brings Buddhist, Taoist and Confucian halls together on terraces rising from the gate to a three-storey main tower 29 m high. Rebuilt several times after earthquakes and a fire in 1942, it reopened as a Buddhist site in 1982; the main tower has halls for the Jade Emperor, Confucius and other figures, and a tunnel linking two ponds is called the 'cave of hell and reincarnation'.
