About Forts of Liu Bang and Xiang Yu

The remains of two forts built facing each other across the Honggou ravine by Liu Bang and Xiang Yu in the Chu–Han war at the end of the Qin, a stand-off remembered as the origin of the river dividing the board in Chinese chess. Erosion by the Yellow River has carried away most of both forts, leaving chiefly their southern rammed-earth walls, about 460 m of Liu Bang's fort and 260 m of Xiang Yu's as measured in 2009, on the bluff above the river.
