About Xingwen Stone Sea
A karst landscape on the southern rim of the Sichuan Basin, where fields of limestone pinnacles (the 'stone sea'), large caves such as Tianquan Cave and giant collapsed sinkholes, or tiankeng, form the core of the Xingwen UNESCO Global Geopark, designated in 2005. It was one of the first places in China where tiankeng were studied, and the surrounding county is home to Miao communities and traces of the ancient Bo people.
