About Yunnanyi
A village on the old caravan road south-east of Xiangyun, named after the Han-dynasty Yunnan County seated here and the post station ('yi') kept on the route from the Yuan to the Qing dynasties. About 1.7 km of the old stone road survives, lined with shopfronts, caravan inns, family compounds, ancestral halls and temples mostly of the mid-to-late Qing, and the Qian family's former caravan inn now houses the Yunnan Horse Caravan Culture Museum. Both the village buildings and its stretch of the Tea Horse Road are national heritage sites.
