About Former Residence of Zhan Tianyou

A two-storey Western-style brick house that the railway engineer Zhan Tianyou (Jeme Tien Yow) designed for himself in Hankou's former Russian concession and lived in from 1913 until his death in 1919. Zhan, a Yale graduate known as the Father of China's Railroads, was chief engineer of the Beijing–Zhangjiakou line and was in Hankou to direct the Guangdong–Hankou and Sichuan–Hankou railway projects. The house was repaired and opened as an exhibition room in 1993 and is now the Zhan Tianyou Former Residence Museum.
