About Tombs of the Ming Princes of Chu
The burial ground of nine Ming-dynasty princes of Chu on Longquan Mountain in Jiangxia District, a line that began when the Hongwu Emperor's sixth son, Zhu Zhen, was enfeoffed at Wuchang in 1370. Prince Zhao's enclosure, with a gate, halls and stele pavilion rebuilt in 1988 and an excavated underground chamber, is the best preserved and reopened in December 2021 with a new exhibition hall, while archaeologists have been clearing the foundations of other enclosures since 2015. The site was among the first group of Hubei provincial heritage parks named in 2021 and was approved in December 2022 as a national archaeological site park project.
