About Jiangxia Tidal Power Station
China's first two-way tidal power station, built across the Jiangxia inlet at the northern end of Yueqing Bay, where the tidal range reaches 8.39 m; its first turbine began generating in May 1980 and the plant now has about 4.1 MW installed. A rock-fill barrage 670 m long holds back the tide, with a sluice, powerhouse and substation beside it, and the whole complex was listed as a national heritage site in 2019. It is a working plant, seen from outside: a local road crosses the barrage beside the sluices and powerhouse.
