About Hongshan Park

A hill park in central Ürümqi around Hong Shan, the 'Red Mountain' of Permian red sandstone that serves as the city's emblem, laid out in 1985 after decades of tree-planting. The Hongshan Pagoda on the summit is a regional heritage site, and the park also has old-style buildings including a viewing tower and a Buddhist temple, a statue of Lin Zexu and a lake with fairground rides; a temple fair is held around the Lunar New Year.

How to get to Hongshan Park

Just north of the city centre in Shuimogou District, a short taxi ride from the main streets.
