About Runing Stone Bridges

Two Ming-dynasty stone bridges over the Ru River at Runan, the old seat of Runing prefecture: the Jimin Bridge at the east gate, first made of stone in 1483, and the Hongji Bridge at the north gate, built in 1505, each with five arches and about 55 m long. Their piers have pointed cutwaters facing the current, and the Jimin Bridge's balustrade carries carved lions and panels of plum, orchid, bamboo, cloud and qilin designs.
