About Former Rong County Military Government

On 25 September 1911, in the old county yamen of Rong County, Wu Yuzhang, Wang Tianjie and other members of the Tongmenghui declared the county independent of Qing rule and set up a military government, 15 days before the Wuchang Uprising. The surviving late-Qing courtyard of the yamen, with its main and rear halls, gate and side wings, has been open as an exhibition since 1988, and its ten galleries cover the Tongmenghui's revolutionary activity in Rong County. A monument to the uprising, unveiled for its centenary in 2011, stands in Shouyi Square in front.
