About Cixiang Temple

A Buddhist temple in Jiguo village whose three courtyards run north from the gate through a Guandi shrine and bell and drum towers to the main hall and the Lutai Pagoda. The main hall is original Song-dynasty timberwork, three bays wide with an overhanging gable roof, and the octagonal nine-storey brick pagoda, 48.2 m high, was built under the Jin dynasty between 1123 and 1137. The temple goes back to the Tang dynasty and took its present name in the Northern Song, and most other buildings are Ming or Qing.
