About Hongshilazi Anti-Japanese Base
The site of what Chinese accounts call the first anti-Japanese base area set up by the Communist Party in the north-east, in forested hills near Panshi, where the local party committee and Yang Jingyu's South Manchuria guerrilla force ran a hospital, a printing shop and other facilities in 1932–33. Archaeological surveys since 2021 have recorded more than 3,300 remains, including semi-underground dwellings and log houses, and the site now has restored remains, a viewing circuit, protective sheds and interpretation signs. The Panshi Anti-Japanese Struggle Memorial Hall in the city, in a building completed in 2022, displays objects and the history of the base.
