About Kom Tong Hall (Dr Sun Yat-sen Museum)
Built in 1914 for the businessman Ho Kom-tong, this Edwardian-era mansion has red-brick walls, granite dressings and ornate iron balconies, and was one of the first buildings in Hong Kong with a steel frame and concealed electrical wiring. Inside are a grand staircase, plaster ceilings picked out in gold leaf and Art Nouveau stained glass. It has been the Dr Sun Yat-sen Museum since December 2006; Sun received his secondary and university education in Hong Kong.
