About Gangshika Peak
Gangshika is the highest peak of the eastern Qilian Mountains, a glaciated mountain of 5,254.5 m in Menyuan County that climbers often treat as a first snow mountain, because the approach is gradual and it lies under 160 km from Xining. The scenic area, a managed development that opened in 2024–25, has a visitor service centre at the foot of the mountain, horse rides and walks in summer, snow and ice activities in winter, a guided climbing route from a base camp at about 4,350 m, and a 47 km backpacking route along the Lenglongling range added in 2025. It was named a national ski-mountaineering training base in 2016, and the film The Climbers was partly shot here.
