About Mount Yao and Spring Temple Buddha

This 5A area joins two separate sights in western Lushan County. Mount Yao (formerly Shirenshan), at the eastern end of the Funiu Mountains, is a granite mountain area of about 268 km² rising to about 2,150 m, known for human-shaped rock pinnacles, waterfalls, forest and autumn colour, with a cable car and a cliff walkway up towards the summit. About 15 km to the east, Foquan Temple is home to the Spring Temple Buddha, a copper statue completed in 2008 that stands 128 m tall including its lotus throne.

How to get to Mount Yao and Spring Temple Buddha

Both lie off national road G311 west of Lushan County town, the Buddha about 45 km out at Zhaocun and the Mount Yao gate about 60 km out in Yaoshan town; Lushan is about 40 km west of Pingdingshan.
