About Mount Laojun and Jiguan Cave

One of the main peaks of the Funiu range, renamed in the Tang after the legend that Laozi retired here to cultivate the Way; Taoist temples have stood on it since the Northern Wei, and three cable-car lines and a long ridge walkway lead up towards the Golden Summit, a cluster of Taoist halls on the crest. The joint 5A area also includes Jiguan Cave a few kilometres west of Luanchuan town, a limestone cave 5.6 km long, of which about 1.8 km of stalactite halls is open, at an even 18 °C year-round.
