About Xixi Erxian Temple

A temple to the two Yue sisters, also called Zhenze Palace, in a wooded valley just outside Lingchuan, with its back to a stream instead of the usual hill behind and water in front. Sixteen buildings from the Jin to the Qing stand in two courtyards; the rear hall and the two-storey dressing towers on either side are Jin-dynasty work, and 29 stone tablets include one carved with a poem by the Jin-dynasty writer Yuan Haowen. Old cypresses beside the offering hall have knots that local people read as the twelve zodiac animals.
