About Lian Island
Jiangsu's largest island, joined to the mainland at Lianyungang port by a long sea wall, with wooded hills, the sandy Dashawan beach and the quieter Sumawan bay linked by a seaside boardwalk. Near Sumawan a Han-dynasty inscription cut into the rock marks the old boundary between the Donghai and Langya commanderies and is a national heritage site. The island was rated a national 5A scenic area in 2024.
