About Chaoliandao Lighthouse
A German-era lighthouse on Chaolian Island, a small island in the Yellow Sea about 31 km off the Laoshan coast, built in 1902–03 and the oldest surviving lighthouse in Qingdao. The grey sandstone tower is octagonal and joined to a stone keeper's house with a red-tiled roof and stepped gables. It was damaged in 1914 and again in 1945, repaired afterwards, and added to the national heritage list in 2019.
