About Zhuge Village
A village in western Lanxi, founded in the Yuan, whose residents, mostly surnamed Zhuge, claim descent from Zhuge Liang, the third-century chancellor of Shu Han. Its lanes are laid out like the eight trigrams around a central pond, with eight lanes radiating out and eight low hills ringing the village, and it keeps more than 200 buildings from the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, including ancestral halls and houses built with wealth from the herbal-medicine trade. The protected site also covers the old houses of Changle village, about 2 km away.
