About Afaq Khoja Mausoleum
The family mausoleum of Afaq Khoja, a 17th-century Sufi leader of Kashgar, begun in 1640 for his father, and popularly called the Tomb of the Fragrant Concubine after the legend of the Qianlong Emperor's Uyghur consort. Its square tomb hall, faced with green and yellow glazed tiles under a large dome and framed by four corner towers, stands at the back of the complex with the lecture hall, the Jaman mosque, the high and low prayer halls and the gatehouse. Since the mid-2010s the front part has been built up as the Xiangfei Garden, a themed area with a family history hall, displays on the Fragrant Concubine story, embroidery and craft stalls, performances and a staged welcome ceremony.
