About Hanfeng Lake

A lake created in the heart of Kaizhou by a regulating dam that since 2017 has held the water at 170–175 m, so that the falling Three Gorges reservoir no longer leaves bare mudflats around the town. It covers about 15 km² with more than 30 bays and 41 islands; lakeside parks and wetlands, a covered bridge, the Juziyuan garden with the Wenfeng Pagoda and the newly built Kaizhou Old Town line its shores. Boat trips and water sports such as kayaking and paddleboarding run from the lakeside.

How to get to Hanfeng Lake

The lake surrounds the centre of the Kaizhou district town in north-eastern Chongqing; the lakeside paths start in town.
