About Guangji Temple Complex and Jinzhou Museum

A walled group of old temple buildings in the middle of Jinzhou, centred on a 13-tier brick pagoda begun under the Liao dynasty in 1057 and a Buddhist temple rebuilt in the Qing dynasty, with a Mazu temple, a Guanyin pavilion and a shrine to soldiers killed in the 1894 Sino-Japanese War. Jinzhou Museum shares the site, with permanent displays on the city's history, western Liaoning fossils, local customs and Buddhist art, and exhibitions on Mazu worship and the 1894 land war in the old halls. The pagoda, about 71 m high after its 1996 restoration, stands in Guta Park in the middle of the city.
