About Site of the First National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party

The pair of two-storey shikumen lane houses on Xingye Road where the Chinese Communist Party held its first national congress in July 1921, with the downstairs room where the delegates met arranged as it was at the time. A new memorial hall next door, opened in June 2021, holds the main exhibition on the party's founding, and the delegates' lodgings at the former Bowen Girls' School, about 200 m away and part of the same listed site, opened to visitors in March 2026 after restoration. The 5A scenic area also includes the memorial halls of the Second and Fourth Congresses in Jing'an and Hongkou districts.

How to get to Site of the First National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party

In Huangpu District next to Xintiandi, a few minutes' walk from the Metro stations Site of the First CPC National Congress·South Huangpi Road (Lines 1 and 14) and Site of the First CPC National Congress·Xintiandi (Lines 10 and 13); the former dormitory must be booked in advance through the memorial's WeChat mini-program. Closed on Mondays except public holidays.
