About Xinhua Village, Heqing
A Bai village on the edge of the Heqing plain whose families have long made silverware by hand, a craft that the county gazetteer traces back more than 500 years and that is on China's national intangible cultural heritage list. Its lanes are lined with family workshops where smiths hammer and engrave bowls, jewellery and teapots. It is a busy commercial centre for the trade, so compare prices before buying.
