About Tomb of Yu Qian
The tomb of Yu Qian (1398–1457), the Ming minister of war who led the defence of Beijing after the emperor was captured by the Mongols in the Tumu crisis, and who was executed when that emperor regained the throne. Rebuilt in 1982, the horseshoe-shaped mound at the foot of Santai Hill is approached through a stone gateway and a spirit way lined with six pairs of stone figures, and the neighbouring Yu Qian Shrine has an exhibition on his life.
