About Feilai Hall, Emeishan

A temple complex about 2 km north of Emeishan city whose main Feilai Hall, rebuilt in 1279 and repaired in 1298, is the largest surviving Yuan-dynasty timber building in Sichuan. Originally a Song temple to the god of Mount Tai, it gradually became a Buddhist temple from the late Ming, and its halls climb the hillside along a single axis. It is a worthwhile stop for anyone interested in early Chinese timber architecture on the way to or from Mount Emei.
