About Huaxilou (Shanxi–Shaanxi Guild Hall)

A guild hall and temple to the war god Guan Yu built in the Qing dynasty by medicine merchants from Shanxi and Shaanxi trading in Bozhou, on Xianning Street in the old northern quarter. Its popular name, 'flower opera tower', comes from the opera stage facing the main hall, covered in painted wood carvings of Three Kingdoms stories; the gateway is faced with intricate brick carving and flanked by a pair of tall iron flagpoles.
