About Temple and Tomb of Cangjie

A temple and tomb honouring Cangjie, the legendary inventor of Chinese writing, laid out with the temple in front and his walled tomb mound behind. Along the axis stand a screen wall, gate, offering hall, main hall and a Yuan-style rear hall, flanked by an opera stage and bell and drum towers among dozens of ancient cypresses, and a stele carved with 28 'bird-track' characters attributed to Cangjie stands inside. A ceremony for Cangjie is held here every year at the Guyu solar term in April.
